The hidden gem of Bilogora
Walk along forest paths, discover hidden viewpoints and enjoy the untouched nature that surrounds this beautiful mountainous area.
The Bilogora region is a true testament to how versatile continental Croatia is and always ready to surprise.
This vast mountain range, consisting of a series of mounds, is considered the lowest, but also the longest mountain in Croatia, making it ideal for cycling. Idyllic routes pass by ancient taverns, many of which have been converted into wineries, and there are also a large number of well-maintained hiking trails in the area.
The Daruvar area is characterized by some of the darkest skies in Croatia, which is why the nearby “Vrani Kamen” Dark Sky Park is located on the slopes of Papuk. Astronomers, astrophotographers and other sky enthusiasts should definitely not miss this attraction.
To the south, overlapping with Moslavina, are the Green Gardens of Poilovlja. These are marshy expanses surrounded by gentle slopes covered with forests, villages, vineyards, lush vegetation and diverse wildlife.
Bilogora is not just a hill, it is a region with more than 50 top viewpoints and hidden trails to explore
Daruvar is also home to Adam, a 240-year-old Ginkgo tree, whose yellow autumn leaves still delight locals and visitors alike. Ginkgo is the oldest tree species in the world that can boast of coexisting with dinosaurs, meaning the first specimens could be found 200 million years ago. There is also the famous Daruvar Spa, a former Roman thermal bath that today attracts numerous visitors from all over Croatia.
Less well-known is the E. Kvaternik Square in Bjelovar, which has been repeatedly declared the most beautiful square in continental Croatia. Bjelovar itself has been declared the third most beautiful city in continental Croatia. In this youngest Croatian city, everyone can find something for themselves: all year round in Bjelovar there are sports and cultural entertainment events, literary and theatrical meetings, dance competitions, etc.
